Background & Experience

Raashi believes that she has been born to protect and reform workplace justice. She fulfils her mission by working in the areas of labour and employment law, human rights, administrative law, and civil litigation.

Raashi is committed to resolving conflict for trade unions and their members using balanced strategy – whether through negotiation and mediation, full arbitration, or court proceedings. She has appeared before labour arbitrators, the B.C. Provincial Court, and the B.C. Supreme Court. She has worked on a wide range of workplace disputes, including human rights, discrimination and the duty to accommodate, disability, health and pension benefits, collective agreement interpretation, discipline and termination, job classification, and workplace safety. She also has experience representing workers in collective bargaining, labour relations, insolvency, bankruptcy, and creditors’ remedies
matters.

Before joining the firm, Raashi was in-house litigation counsel at a reputed pension and disability benefits trust. She articled at and worked as a legal representative with one of the largest labour unions of British Columbia.

Following her graduation in India and before immigrating to Canada, Raashi spent several years as in-house counsel in the entertainment industry. She contributed to correcting the imbalance in the rights of screenwriters, actors, music composers and lyricists in the wake of legislative and judicial reform of the copyright regime in India.

Raashi is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi, and is conversant in Urdu. Her practice of law is centred on the respect for dignity of life inspired by her involvement in a global community-based organization that promotes peace, culture and education. Yoga helps in bringing alignment, courage, flexibility and perseverance to her work.
